Its still a bit stiffer torsionally than the past models but they are not as stiff as the 2018 demo we tried. This is no freeride board built for speed but its very good for its shape and riding style. Office No.042-37245953 Ali Akbar 0300-4103013 info@maccatraders.com It does everything well but nothing memorably well. Thats why this has a rating of great instead of excellent. It holds an edge well enough but also drives well from wall to wall. Jones Mountain Twin Snowboard - 2022/2023. Lately, we have been liking the easier uneven snow performance on the Mtn Twin a little more than the Ultra Mountain Twin but it can go either way. It makes for a board that is pretty easy to butter because the rocker in the tip/tail already get you started. The YES Standard is lacking pop and a satisfying turning experience but is a buttery, forgiving, grippy and good floating ride. Jibbing: The Yes Standard is a better jibber than you would think. Speed: Good mountain speed and we had no problem with a strong straight line. Flex: This has a medium flex but it still has a very playful buttery feel for how stiff it is. Many boards personalities change acording to the conditions but the Jones Mountain Twin does not and thats hard to do in this hybrid world of snowboards. Speed: Its a pretty fast board and likes to bomb for sure. It increases edge hold and improves turn initiation for a board of a wider width underfoot. I also felt fairly confident bombing down runs. Jumps: Really solid pop and great for those who like to get big air.
Yes Standard vs Jones Mtn Twin, Jones Ultra Mountain Twin - youtube.com On Snow Feel/Skidded Turns: The Jones Mountain Twin is a super stable ride but isnt catchy. So before the Jones Mountain Twin was bordering on the slow side of medium. Great board. I am much happier on boards like the YES Not So Basic Globe for my boot size. Speed: The nose and tail of the YES Standard can clown shoe a bit but overall its got pretty good mountain speed. Especially good directional float in powder. However slow turn initiation for smaller boot riders, although not as bad as toe/heel drag, sucks a lot too. I felt it floated so easy in 1 foot of powder and it wasnt even trying yet. It also depends on your boot size and where you ride the majority of the time. Jumps: Wish there was a little more pop but everything else about the Jones Mountain Twin does great on kickers any size. The Yes Standard is updated for 2016 and has some changes that make it less friendly for less advanced riders but make it more friendly for the strong expert rider. Besides the slight lack of speed, the board was a little too soft for me. You can actually set it back 1.75 back from center of board with a 22.8 stance width and get close to 1 with the 22.8 Freeride Reference Stance Width. It holds through a carve rather well though. 519.00. This is great for tracking in a stable easy way to a natural feature on the mountain or a kicker in the park when you want to get air because it doesnt feel like the board is asking you to turn. I think we have about 8-10 friends of The Good Ride try this board. It makes the YES Standard one of the better all mountain boards out there for powder.

If you like to center it up and ride groomers/park switch this is a great call. So, all in all, The YES Standard offers up a great all-mountain ride that gives you a little taste of what a Freeride board is like in powder when setting back and a strong all-mountain freestyle ride on non-powder days. Needless to say it was the unanimous favorite in the All Mountain Category. The Jones Mountain Twin comes in as the cheaper of the two styles of snowboards, but not by a lot. Yes have put it down to a manufacturing issue so ive sent it back and went for a Jones Ultra Mountain Twin 157. Edge Hold: Really strong grip without being grabby. Edge Hold: The 2017 Yes Standard grips well but it doesnt grip like the Under Bite or Middle Bite tech. Its got a very diverse personality that can fit a wide range of riders and it does everything very well. On Snow Feel: Not as catchy as it use to be after the transition from mostly camber to hybrid rocker. The stiffness was right between the burton and the capita but it wasn't as stiff as I expected it to be based on the websites 7/10 rating. Switch:Now as I mentioned before the Jones Mountain Twin has a lot of directional tech with this board that makes it less than perfect to ride switch when centered. Buttering: Such a great board for buttering. Close to Reference and Set all the way back. When it comes to long radius turns the Jones is almost as fun. Most of us actually liked that. Most YES boards have more camber and provide a more springy turn. Both are a bit sluggish turning through the bumps but the MT handles the crowded messy resort snow a bit better than the UMT. 519. The one thing with the Standard is you need full-sized disc bindings (not mini-disc) to get all of the directional float it can offer with its slam back inserts in powder. Days: 15+ Its not a board Id take into the trees or ride in tight spots. Its only a touch weird buttering on the tail compared to the nose but most will really enjoy this board when the stance is centered on the 5 x 2 per binding inserts.

Its got a great stable feel to it and itsgot a camber feel underfoot that doesnt catch. Edge Hold:A step below magnetraction for sure. Centered for more all mountain freestyle riding and directional for powder or more directional all mountain riding. Bindings: Burton Diode 165W: 12-13 If you are driving hard wall to wall and going bigger its all about the Ghost but this is great for most. Conditions: Everything from hard snow to good snow and even a foot of powder along with some slackountry time with Drift Boards. If you keep the edges sharp the Mountain Twin would be a great dedicated pipe board. Very very stoked with this board. The fact that it is an intermediate/advanced board, this price point is standard, maybe even on the affordable side. There is much more control between the feet, excellent edge hold and a good rocker shape after the bindings to make this a great pipe board. So just to get a little into the techthe Jones Mountain Twin has about a 50/50 camber rocker combo and a set back camber so there is more rocker in the nose than the tail. Edge Hold: Nice solid grip that doesnt wash easily when it gets hard. Dealing with small inconsistent groomers is easy. You can straightline most runs at moderate to high speeds with confidence and the way it rides wont sketch you out. The Jones Mountain Twins base is pretty fast and the board is pretty damp. Its nothing like its bigger brother theJones Flagshipor its cousin theYes Big Citybut it does a good job with most speed. I actually prefered the Yes Optimistic because its a little more forgiving and Im not a standout pipe rider.
Jones Frontier Vs. Mountain Twin - Snow Blazing It has much more of a normal snowboard feel and isnt over grippy but when you hit a hard patch its definitely helpful compared to a board without it. It still isnt going to keep up with Alt Freeride and Freeride boards like the Y, Hybrid, Optimistic or Pick Your Line but it does really well for a directional twin. Cut through some thick trees without a problem. Riders:James

Jones Mountain Twin 2023 Review: The Perfect East Coast All-Mountain However, I got bored with it after two subsequent trips out west. The blunted tip/tail is great for a little extra float than the 2017 model. I relate my decision to choosing my surfboards from a shaper who knows their stuff.. and believe me Mr Jones knows!! He's 105 lbs, but the Typo only goes down to 149cm. Jibbing:This is probably the weakest part of the ride but its not that bad either. You can of course go bigger or smaller but these work best for not turning the board slower than it should be and not having the dreaded, 157: 9-10 Width over inserts. So basically its got about as good carving ability as you can get for the amount of float you get in powder. Now there is just a 156 with a similar width to the 2017 156w. Approximate Weight: Felt normal and well constructed. This is about as good as you can get for a directional twin. Skidded Turns: Way easier than last year and you can loose a little control and skid your way out. And as advertised, this is an all purpose, all-mountain boardmeaning if you travel for trips and only have one board to bring, this qualifies nicely. Feels Normal bordering on light. Set Up: about 23 one day and closer to 22.75 on others.
YES Standard 2015-2022 Snowboard Review - The Good Ride Board: The Jones Mountain Twin. Turn Initiation:Same middle ground turn initiation that isnt instantaneous but isnt hard either. Jibbing: Not really a jibber but its doable. If you choose the freestyle stance of 22.8 as well you can get .25 back on board and ride it more like a true twin in powder if that is what you are into. The Capita basically has a bump between the bindings to help with edge hold while Yes basically has an indent between the bindings to do the same. Super easy to one foot and flat base. Carving was fun on the old jones but the added camber of the 2013 and 2014 Jones makes it much more fun to carve and its one of its better qualities. Jacket: Burton AK Gore-Tex Pro 3L Tusk Jacket, Volcom TDF Infuse 3L Gore-Tex Jacket, Burton Banshee Gore-Tex Jacket Its also pretty strong if you want to center it up for switch powder riding so its a pretty versatile powder ride.

It doesnt have the spring to the Ghost on an ollie but it sure does butter easier. Carving: Very fun to carve and this mostly camber board really makes for good lay it out springy carving turns. This season I am going to try the Yes Pick Your Line. The rocker in the tip/tail makes it really easy. It has a nice rubbery but not a noodely pop to it that gives it a pretty playful feel. Switch:If you want to center up the stance and ride switch its still a directional twin that will almost ride like a true twin. 162: 12-13 So all in all the 16 Standard isnt as versatile as the 15 Standard but still can make a really strong technical aggressive all mountain freestyle rider happy. With a centered stance the Jones can act like a great all mountain freestyle board. At a 21.5 wides stance width the YES Standard can give you a 4.5 difference between nose/tail, or a 2.25 set back from the center of the board. Its a big bump down in comparison to the augmented camber of the YES Ghost which has the same shape and specs except for the camber profile. Capita's Death Grip and Yes' Mid-bite are essentially polar opposites of one another. Its not as hard to butter as you would think but you do have to put a little more strength into it. The added camber makes it carve up the pipe wall better than the older model. Also the tip and tail seem to chatter a little less than previous models. I thought about trying the 153 but the max stance width is 22.1 so I couldnt even get to my minimum 22.5 stance width for that board. Bindings: Union Atlas, Burton Genesis X, . We were impressed with its ability to flex when you need it on the tip/tail. Not too stiff and not too soft. It just saysyeahokIm in. If you ride in icy conditions a lot it can hang but you would probably want something stronger like an aggressive magnetraction board. I dont worry about making it through the flats but I do worry about weaving in and out around slower skiiers and riders when Im on this board. Id love to see the Standard have 5 x 2 inserts per binding centered and then 2 x 2 set back instead of 1 x 2 set back. Pipe: Soo much fun in the pipe.
